Food and Drink… there is nothing in life as satiating as a good meal. Whether it be set on the finest linen or a beer soaked bar, filling ourselves with the thing we crave is intensely gratifying. There is a satisfaction in working with and photographing food, almost as much as eating it, finding the essence of the plate and shaping light around it so that the viewer can taste the dish before they ever take a bite.
I have had the advantage of photographing many incredible dishes. From the ordinary, made from love or even a whimsical or daring twist, to the four-star, decadent stand out, made to savor as if it was one’s last meal. Along the way, I have met many visionary chefs and cooks who use the plate as their canvas, sometimes meticulously, sometimes sloppily, to meet their desire to put forth a product that is singularly their own.
I have had the pleasure of working with and providing images for Cameron Mitchell Restaurants, Melt Bar and Grilled, Jeni of Jeni’s Ice Cream, Watershed Distillery, among others. My mandate is to entice and make the viewer long for the dish they didn’t know they needed with every image…as well as enjoy some of the best food there is to encounter.
